St. Mark’s Square Museums ticket: what is included?

Understand the St. Mark’s Square museum circuit: Doge’s Palace, Correr, Archaeological Museum and Marciana, exclusions and visit planning.

The short answer

MUVE’s St. Mark’s Square Museums ticket covers the Doge’s Palace and the integrated route through the Correr Museum, National Archaeological Museum and Monumental Rooms of the Marciana Library. It does not include St. Mark’s Basilica. Think of it as a museum circuit, not a guided tour of every landmark around the square.

Four museum names, two parts to plan

The palace is one substantial visit, with its own entrance on the waterfront-facing side. The Correr, Archaeological Museum and monumental Marciana rooms form a separate integrated route. MUVE identifies the Correr portion as the first-floor circuit; do not assume that every gallery, temporary exhibition or library service is included.

These names describe what the museum ticket covers, not four consecutive guided appointments. The palace concentrates on government, representation and justice. The other circuit adds the history and collections of Venice, archaeology and the decorated library rooms. Give each part its own place in your itinerary instead of treating the extra names as a quick final room.

What is not included?

St. Mark’s Basilica is a separate religious monument, despite standing immediately beside the palace. Its museum, terrace, Pala d’Oro and the bell tower have their own admission arrangements. A ticket mentioning “St. Mark’s Square” does not automatically include these places.

Secret Itineraries and the Doge’s Hidden Treasures are special guided routes, not part of ordinary admission. Nor does the museum ticket itself promise a gondola ride, a personal guide or access to all MUVE museums. Those are different products or passes. Read the actual product if booking a reseller package with a similar name.

How to arrange the palace and the Correr circuit

Check the entry conditions printed on the ticket, including the permitted date or validity period and whether an admission time is specified. Do not borrow the six-month validity of the separate Museum Pass and apply it to a St. Mark’s Square Museums ticket. Similar-looking museum products can have different rules.

Choose the order using the confirmed conditions and the separate opening hours of each museum. MUVE currently states that palace tickets in this category without a specific entry slot permit palace access from noon. That is not a promise about the Correr opening time. Leave time for the full integrated circuit and verify any closures before you travel.

Audio guide, bags and separate entrances

MUVE currently lists the MUVE app audio guide as included with the museum ticket. Check the supported content and setup instructions before you arrive, and do not assume every commercial audio-guide listing is the same product. If you add a paid service, check what it provides beyond the museum’s inclusion.

The palace public entrance is Porta del Frumento. Follow the Correr circuit’s own entrance information for that visit. Allow for security, carrying restrictions and any access needs at each venue rather than expecting a single check to cover every building. A ticket is not a guarantee that all rooms will be open throughout the day.

Is this the same as a Museum Pass?

No. MUVE’s Museum Pass is a broader product for specified permanent collections across multiple museums. It currently has a six-month validity and one admission per included museum, with the Clock Tower excluded. That may suit a longer, museum-focused stay, but the larger list is only useful if you will visit those venues.

Keep the decision practical: list the museums you genuinely want, check their opening days and access conditions, then compare the appropriate products. Our tickets page keeps the main palace tariff benchmarks and reductions in one place; this guide explains the circuit rather than maintaining a competing price list.

Questions answered

Frequently asked

Does “St. Mark’s Square Museums” include the basilica?

No. The museum circuit covers the palace, Correr, Archaeological Museum and monumental Marciana rooms, not the basilica.

Do I have to visit all the museums?

You can choose how to spend your time, but check the ticket’s validity and entry conditions. Buying the circuit does not make time for every venue automatically.

Is the Marciana a visit to the whole working library?

The listed inclusion is the Monumental Rooms of the Marciana Library. It is not general access to every library space or research service.
